04 Pilar Sandoval Coachella Valley Pilar Sandoval, a palmero, pollinates and ties together the flowers of a date palm, which will later ripen and become dates. Sandoval is working about thirty feet above the floor of the grove. He is a UFW member, and because of his union seniority rights, he has been able to keep this same job for over 20 years, unlike most farmworkers, who are plagued by extreme job insecurity. |
