13 Delfina Corcoles Watsonville Delfina Corcoles, a union activist at the Gargiulo strawberry company, was not rehired at the beginning of 1997 because of her union activities. Pressure by the UFW won her job back. The day she went to work, as the workers in the field realized she was there, they began calling out. "Here comes la flaca [the skinny one], the one they said would never come back! Here she is!" And Corcoles yelled back to them, "Here I am! Here I am!" |
