71 Colombia - Rio Ovejas
Gold miner Abraham Rodellaga. Afro-Colombian and indigenous Columbian small scale gold miners live in a community on the Rio Ovejas threatened by large scale development projects, including a gold mining complex and the flooding of valley by a new dam and hydroelectric project. Earlier development projects have brought massacres here by Colombia's paramilitary and groups who protect the projects, and who seek to push communities here off their land.
