05 Beboy and Ayon
off the coast of Garcia Hernandez, Bohol, Visayas
Beboy, 16 years old, has been learning to fish from Ayon for three years. They are catching bangot, a fish related to tuna, which they sell at 6 pesos a fish (about 15¢ US). They leave the beach while it's still dark and put out a mile-long gill net. Ayon teaches Beboy how to haul in the net and extricate the fish without getting it tangled.
