32 Hotel Workers Defend Health Care San Francisco hotel workers and their community supporters block hotel entrances in acts of civil disobedience, during a demonstration in Union Square, in the heart of the city's tourist district. Workers opposed demands by the luxury hotel chains that they pay for the health care benefits they currently had under their union contract. The contract expired in August, 2009, and the workers' union, UNITE HERE Local 2, was trying to negotiate a new agreement. |
