22 Blacklisted Watsonville Three blacklisted workers - Leobardo Acosta, Isabel Rendon, and Jose Rojas - led a march of 30,000 farmworkers and supporters in Watsonville, starting the second year of the United Farm Workers' strawberry workers' organizing drive. Growers refused to rehire these and other UFW activists at the beginning of the 1997 picking season. After numerous demonstrations and public pressure, these three finally won their jobs back. |
